Winter 2o24 Collection

Pots from The New MExico High Desert

Thanks for coming to check out my new collection of pots! I’ve been a busy bee this year firing three different styles of kilns, which means I have a wide variety of wares for you to enjoy. You’ll find mostly functional pots: mugs, sippers for whiskey, oil pourers, Japanese style yunomi and tea bowls, serving trays, and bottles. But also some vases and sculptural pieces.

A lot of my work is made with clay I dig near Abiquiú, NM and fired with wood over seven days. The process gives my work its raw feel and I keep my forms simple to let the clay have room to speak. My Yuomi are an example of this. These versatile cups are based on a traditional Japanese tea cup, but I also like to use them for water, coffee, and mixed drinks. Their faces are sketched with moments I find beautiful outside. A cattail and the sound of a blackbird.

Other pots are overflowing with color inspired by the gold light that pours over our landscape most evenings. When we are lucky squalls of snow move through at sunset and the skies come alive life in waves of color. My porcelain Desert Snow Mugs are made from this feeling.

The Buenas Olas mugs are some of my favorites. For me they harken the bliss of surfing, the overwhelming feeling of being spun in the cold ocean. Their surfaces are inspired by water closer to home and the incredible beauty of a cut throat trout belly in the Rio Grande river. No two are the same.

Enjoy and stay warm. Reach out if you need help.
